Associated Press wire service advises USA follow UK style and lowercase "internet" word
See Davey Alba's report at WIRED magazine website at
BRAVO! FINALLY! I had been lobbying both AP style editors and NYT's Phil Corbett since 2010 to go lowercase and they both said "We are aware of this issue and we will issue a directive in the future." Wired copy editor TONY LONG was there first in 2004 with an oped stating that internet needs to be lowercase. Nobody listened to him, until now! BRAVO TONY LONG, who saw the future before the rest of us did!
Today, they did. Well, AP did. Remains to be seen in the NYT will follow suit.
the UK media has been lowercasing ''internet" for over ten years. took a while for USA to catch up on this one!

NOTE: Savvy NYT ace reporter John Schwartz wrote about this issue HERE as far back as 2002.
