Aluf Benn, oped editor of Ha'aretz newspaper in Israel and an all-around nice guy and true mensch, says he cannot publish my oped piece on the future of Israel and climate change in the year 2500, noting: "I'd love to make you happier, but unfortunately we're overbooked and must pass." I have asked him for a second opinion. SMILE

Dear Mr Bloom
I'd love to make you happier, but unfortunately we're overbooked and must pass.

Aluf tells me in 2nd email:

''I don't know you, and have no opinion of you whatsoever. But I can't run it now.''

I don't think newspaper editors in Israel really care much about what life might be like there in the year 2500, even as a thought exercise. Sigh. The land of prophets and visionaries, who gave us people with quotes like "without a vision, a people will perish"...and look how Israel treats me! I am postmodern Jeremiah and they don't even listen to me. Same old story....sigh

i say all above with humor
