Climate change? Well, we'll be dead by then

As we careered towards a mediocre outcome in Copenhagen in 2009, why did roughly half the people in this world not believe in man-made climate change, when the overwhelming majority of scientists did?
Firstly we had the psychological issues. We were predisposed to undervalue adverse outcomes which were a long way off, especially if we might be old or dead soon.
YUP!
So forget any intelligent talk in the print media or online about polar cities. Forgetabutit!
