The wonders of spellchecking: NOT!
David Overton found this on the front page of The Telegraph in the UK on 7 December 2015:
“Britain’s response to terror attacks was called into question last night after uninformed officers were left to deal with a suspected Islamist fanatic.”
Spellcheck cannot SEE words that are spelled correctly but either used in wrong context or spelled in an incorrect way doe to what is called an ATOMIC TYPO in newsroomsw of the world. The term ATOMIC TYPO was coined by CF Hanif, a newspaper editor in Fliorida. SEE the website here:
uniformed police officers
or UNINFORMED police officers
Spread the word. Atomic typos are here to stay.
