Stan Yang, a longtime supporter of this blog, with a 2016 New Year's Message

1/1/2016

Dear Dan,

I hope people consider to abolish New Year 'sfireworks shows and replace them in the future with concerts or other more meaningful events. The fireworks generate a lot of CO2 and are highly polluting.

We also need to conserve the use of cyber messages.  The messages and images in Facebook, emails etc, they are stored in huge servers indefinitely.  These servers generate tremendous amount of heat and need to be cooled down all the time.   Google submerses their server storage in a floating facility in San Francisco bay.

To be environmental friendly is to conserve whatever we do.  As human activities either cause pollution or heat, both are not good for the environment.

Some New Year thoughts.
