Reading off screens is not the same as reading on paper surfaces, and future MRI scan studies will show that not only are they different modes of reading, but that in fact reading on paper surfaces is SUPERIOR for such things as retention, processing of info, storage of info, analysis and critical thinking......BUT this finding will make absolutely no difference to the players in the digital world because what's done is done, and screen-reading is going to supplant paper reading for most of humanity in the coming times and there is nothing we can do to stop this.......even though screen-reading is INFERIOR to paper surface reading........

Why will this finding make NO DIFFERENCE? Because the variety of screen readers, from iPads to iPhone screens to David Pogue lenses to John Markoff pads to computer screens like this one you are reading off of right now, they are already in the marketplace and money rules, profits rule, this is all about a technological revolution fueled by money men and no one really cares that reading off screens is inferior to reading on paper. We will get by, we will adapt. Sigh. My guess is that people in the future who really want to do READING, compared to what I call SCREENING off screens, will have to print out the texts that want to read deeply and lovingly, and this is how things will be in the future. Most screening will be off screens, and those people who want to really READ will print out their texts and read them on paper. NOTHING CAN BE DONE TO STOP THIS REVOLUTION IN SCREENING HABITS......
